A Moment of Serenity in a Single Bowl

The warmth of a tea bowl in my hands,
the fragrance of matcha,
the gentle sound of water falling.

By attending to each of these small moments with care,
I find myself expressing within a single bowl
all that I have sensed and received
from nature and the passing of time.

In spring, blossoms unfold,
their delicate fragrance bringing serenity.

In summer, leaves dance in the breeze,
as sunlight illuminates the vitality of life.

In autumn, the world turns crimson,
awakening an appreciation for the fleeting beauty of all things.

In winter, the air grows clear and still,
holding within it a quiet warmth.

A moment shared over tea is fleeting,
here for only an instant.

And yet, within that moment,
I gather all that nature and the passage of time have given me

into a single bowl.

To offer you
a moment of stillness and serenity.

Yuko Murakami

Table Tea Ceremony Artist / Tea Artist

Born in Tokyo, Yuko Murakami developed an appreciation for Japanese aesthetics from an early age. In her teens, she began studying the Urasenke tradition of tea ceremony,

where she learned the foundations of the Way of Tea.

As the wife of a diplomat, she lived abroad in cities including Cairo and New York.

Through her encounters with diplomats and cultural figures from around the world, she deepened her appreciation for Japanese culture and began sharing the spirit of omotenashi—the Japanese art of heartfelt hospitality—with an international audience.

Now based in Tokyo, Yuko regularly hosts tea gatherings for diplomats and members of the international cultural community. She has introduced and taught her contemporary table-style approach to the Japanese tea ceremony to guests from a wide range of countries,

including the United States, Egypt, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and China.

She has also been invited to perform tea ceremonies at private gatherings hosted by international VIPs. Through her ongoing Table Tea Ceremony courses, seasonal Champagne Tea Gatherings at her private salon, and table-manner lessons featuring traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine, she shares the timeless beauty of Japanese culture and the spirit of

gracious hospitality at its heart.

In the autumn of 2025, Yuko presented tea at an event hosted by The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo, and curated and performed a tea ceremony for a global event by Polo Ralph Lauren.
