A Commemorative Tea Gathering Celebrating Kayoko Miki’s First Book

I had the pleasure of hosting a Table-Style Tea Gathering as part of the crowdfunding campaign celebrating the publication of Kayoko Miki’s first book, Kuchibeta demo Erabareru Hito ga Yatteiru Koto.

Kayoko, who previously joined my Table-Style Tea Ceremony course, once shared with me:

“Discovering the way of tea gave me a precious opportunity to find inner peace and reflect on how I wish to live and carry myself as a person.”

Those words eventually inspired us to create this special gathering.

True to Kayoko’s warm and vibrant spirit, she naturally brings wonderful people together. On the day of the event, we were joined by an inspiring group of guests, creating a rich and meaningful time filled with new encounters and connections.

One of the central themes Kayoko explores in her book is the importance of nonverbal communication—something I, too, have deeply valued throughout my life.

I believe that paying attention to what we communicate beyond words has opened the door to many meaningful opportunities and connections in my own journey.

Our expressions, gestures, presence, attire, and the spaces we create—

the way of tea, too, is filled with these subtle forms of communication. It is an art through which thoughtfulness and intention can be conveyed without words.

Through Table-Style Tea Ceremony, I was grateful to share with our guests something deeply connected to the message Kayoko expresses through her book.

Above all, it was a joy to support, even in a small way, this important new chapter in her journey.

For those who are curious about the quiet power of what we communicate beyond words, I warmly invite you to discover her book.
